All-Clad is a well-known American cookware brand based in Canonsburg, PA, and while they order a few little things from China, like some handles and grip rings, the actual pans themselves are made in the USA.

All-Clad products can be found in any store that sells reputable cookware in the United States, Australia, Canada, Germany, the United Kingdom, and countless other countries, making this American cookware brand famous all over the world.

The company was founded in 1967 by a professional metallurgist named John Ulam, who had extensive experience working with bonded metals while working on coinage at the United States Mint. All-Clad didn't actually start out making cookware, but soon switched to the infamous bonded metal after Ulam became frustrated with the inferior pans and decided to use his knowledge of the bonded metals he used to mint coins to create his own product Cookware series. your own pan.

In 1971, All-Clad was ready to sell a high quality American made patented "Roll Bonded" pan. In 1988, All-Clad was acquired by the Pittsburgh Annealing Box Co., and then in 2004, the company was acquired by Groupe SEB, a French conglomerate with a passion for American manufacturing. All-Clad purchased most of the metal from Pennsylvania Steel.

What We Like and Don't Like About the All-Clad D3 Stainless Steel Cookware Set

All-clad primarily has a line of quality cookware sets made in the USA. The biggest difference between these sets is the number of metal layers that make up the cookware and the materials used. In general, multi-layer cookware is more durable and generally heats and cooks more evenly.

Besides the number of layers, the next big difference will be the material. Stainless steel is the most commonly used material for cookware exteriors because while it is more durable than copper or aluminum, it is not a good conductor of heat. Both copper and aluminum are good conductors, which is why they are often found in the core or heating surface of cookware. Copper is one of the best conductors of heat, but it is more expensive than aluminum and stainless steel, so cookware containing copper is often very expensive.

The chart below details the key differences between the All-Clad USA Made range.

collectwork
D3 Edstar3-ply aluminum core. The cooking surface is made of 18/10 stainless steel and the heating surface is made of induction stainless steel.
D5 series5 layers, alternating layers of stainless steel and aluminum. The cooking surface is made of stainless steel and the heating surface is made of induction stainless steel.
copper core5-ply construction with an inner copper core sandwiched between two layers of bonded aluminum. The cooking surface is made of stainless steel and the heating surface is made of induction stainless steel.
C4 copper core4-layer construction with an inner layer of pure copper bonded to a layer of stainless steel. The cooking surface is made of stainless steel and the heating surface is made of pure copper.

I personally own a set of the All Clad D3 range which is perfect for casual cooks like myself. I found it very impressive and if you're looking for a great starter kit I highly recommend the D3 series as it's cheaper but still gets the job done. If you have never used high quality cookware, the D3 set will amaze you like many other lovers of this product as it is one of the most popular high quality sets and is where most consumers are willing to buy cookware within the price range.

For those looking for something a little more upscale, the D5 cookware set features 5-ply construction instead of the 3-ply construction of the D3 range.

We've discussed the basic differences above, but if you want a more detailed explanation, this video is a great optionDifferences between D3 and D5 setsAll-Clad delivers very well.

Overall, I think All-Clad cookware looks as good as it cooks. Here is a close up photo of some of my All-Clad pots and pans.

Best American Made Cookware (Top 17 Brands 2023) - All Made in the USA (3)

I really like the flared rim for easy pouring and even vigorous stirring without spilling the contents.

Another thing you'll notice about All Clad cookware is the craftsmanship and care of its cookware. Each cookware is handcrafted 20 times before reaching your home. These days, you may come across several brands that imitate the All-Clad composite design. However, few come close to the brand's construction and quality standards.

Who we recommend:

American-made all-clad cookware is known to cost a lot more than the affordable pans you'll find at your typical wholesaler, but it also lasts longer because it's extremely durable and well-made. If you cook a lot and really enjoy messing around in the kitchen, it's worth investing in these pans because they last a very long time, are easy to clean and maintain, and are generally fun to use. They hold and distribute heat with ease and are noticeably better than cheaper pans, you'll notice it right away.

First off, if you can afford a D5 or a copper core kit, please let me know your pro in the comments. Just kidding, but seriously, their D5 and copper core pans are professional quality and some of the absolute highest quality pots and pans. Also keep in mind that many pots and pans are also sold individually if a set is out of your price range.

Here's a great video from All-Clad to help you decide which collection is right for you.

Origin and place of production of Viking

If there's one brand on the market that can rival All-Clad's line of high-end cookware, it's Viking Culinary. Both brands feature similar high-quality stainless steel and aluminum layered construction with cool handles and oven-safe designs up to 600 degrees.

In terms of pricing, Viking Culinary has a wider net. Their range certainly isn't cheap, nor is it as expensive as All-Clad's. One of the reasons for the brand's success in keeping costs relatively low may be that part of the production is carried out abroad. Still, it's good to know that these brands still handcraft their signature 5-ply professional stainless steel collections in the USA.

What We Like and Don't Like about the Viking 5-Ply Stainless Steel Cookware

Since the Vikings 5-Ply Professional Stainless Steel Cookware is the only line of products made in the USA, we'll be discussing them here. This line of cookware features multi-layer cladding with a highly durable, induction safe stainless steel shell and a fast heating core of pure aluminum alloy and pure 3004 aluminum laminations. The 18/10 stainless steel cavity withstands extremely high temperatures and distributes heat over the entire surface for more even cooking.

Best American Made Cookware (Top 17 Brands 2023) - All Made in the USA (5)

The set contains ten stainless steel pots and pans, the largest being an 8 liter stockpot with a lid, perfect for cooking gravies and stocks for larger gatherings. You also get two 8-inch and 10-inch skillets, two covered pans, and a 3.4-liter covered skillet. The set features a minimalist design with riveted signature stay cool handles that give you control as you maneuver and move the planter. Plus, all pots and pans have a beautiful satin finish to ensure they look like new after every wash.

Who we recommend:

If you're looking for a relatively inexpensive cookware set that's similar in build and function to the All-Clad, then this cookware collection is a must-try option. Its powerful 5-layer construction is suitable for induction hobs and heats food extremely fast with very low energy consumption.

Admittedly, Vikings Culinary doesn't make much here, but everything they do here is of the highest quality and exceptional quality and is sure to last a lifetime.

What We Like and Don't Like About the Heritage Steel 10-Piece Cookware Set

This 10-piece cookware set showcases Heritage Steel's forty years of experience and expertise. As far as durability goes, I give it high marks. It's no ordinary 5-ply structure, but a strong, sturdy structure. The exterior of the set is made of corrosion resistant Titanium 439 reinforced stainless steel and is compatible with all hobs including induction. The 3-ply aluminum core features alternating layers of pure 1145 aluminum and 3004 aluminum, making it an excellent configuration for efficient cooking.

Where and where Made In is produced

While Made In is a relatively new company, founded in 2016, founders Chip Malt and Jake Kalick have a wealth of expertise thanks to their family's history in the cookware business for over a century. Through direct sales and online sales, the brand has served a large number of home and commercial kitchens while keeping costs under control. Made In has a wide range of products including cast iron, stainless steel, carbon steel, non-stick copper cookware, bakeware, knives and moreAmerican Made Dinnerware. Not all "made" cookware is made in the USA, but a lot of it is, and we think it's one of the highest quality cookware available. I personally own one of their skillets and love them. Since I really only have experience with their frying pans, I'll get into the details below. But be aware that they offer a wide range of cookware.

What We Like and Don't Like About Stainless Steel Fry Pans

This pan is versatile! The 5-ply stainless steel and aluminum construction heats up quickly and evenly, keeping warm longer. Did I mention it's induction compatible? Plus, this pan can withstand heat up to 800 degrees, allowing it to go from the stovetop to the oven for an uninterrupted cooking experience.

Best American Made Cookware (Top 17 Brands 2023) - All Made in the USA (8)

The long hollow handle stays cool and is ergonomically designed for a stable hold. While it's durable, we only need a little care. To keep it looking new, avoid metal utensils and wash by hand rather than in the dishwasher. This pan is also available in 8", 10", and 12" sizes!

Who we recommend:

Finely crafted Made In cookware can be found in many Michelin-starred kitchens, luxury hotels and other hospitality establishments. Its popularity among amateur chefs and gourmets continues to grow. What We Like and Don't Like About Nordicware Cookware

Even if bakeware is more popular, Nordic Ware's sturdy and versatile cookware isn't far behind. I have here a 10 inch skillet that is perfect for baking, sautéing, frying, boiling, steaming and more.

Best American Made Cookware (Top 17 Brands 2023) - All Made in the USA (10)

It is made of heavy duty die cast aluminum. This thoughtful choice of materials provides the pan with fast, even heating performance and corrosion resistance. The handle feels great and I like the rubber on the end to make it easier to hold and move the pan while cooking. What I don't like is that the handle is made in China but the pan itself is made in the USA. I wish the handle was made in the USA, but since it's only a small part of the overall product, I wanted to include it in this list anyway. Please also note that this pan is not suitable for induction hobs.

Who we recommend:

This is a great pan for anyone who wants a powerful skillet for frying, cooking sauces, and other foods without breaking the bank. Overall, it was well made and a joy to cook!

360 origin and production location

This is another popular cookware manufacturer originating from West Bend, Wisconsin, USA. 360 Cookware is relatively new, having launched in 2010, but is a fast-growing brand in the cookware industry. It is known for using steam technology that allows for the most nutritious cooking possible. Unlike other brands where a product line or component is imported or manufactured abroad, all 360 Cookware products are made here in the United States.

What We Like and Don't Like About 360 Stainless Steel Pans

I admire this brand for supporting this healthy way of preparing food. This waterless variant ensures that food is simmered and brewed in its own juices, making it healthier and tastier while being kind to the environment. Serving the well-being of users, the brand also avoids harsh chemicals in the manufacturing process.

Here I've opted for an extra-thick, roomy 8-litre stock pot, handcrafted from high-quality stainless steel and multi-core for quick and even heating. Did I mention that the brand does not use any chemicals, including the non-stick coating. Featuring a T-304 surgical grade stainless steel cooking surface, this pan is healthier and safer than many other pans on the market. The surface is also chemical free and is smoothed by dry sanding.

The lid is cleverly designed to create an air lock for efficient, fat-free, water-free cooking. As far as durability goes, 360 Cookware promises to stand the test of time. It is durable and can even be passed down from generation to generation.

Who we recommend:

Compatible with waterless cooking, the 360 cooker is ideal for anyone who is environmentally conscious and wants non-greasy foods that retain their natural juices and moisture. Being a new entrant in cookware manufacturing, the brand offers a somewhat limited product portfolio. However, what they offer is definitely worth the money!

Where and Where the American Pan Comes From

Made in Pittsburgh, PA, USA. Pan has a huge following for its professional cookware and bakeware. The company was founded in 1959 by brothers John Bundy Sr. and Russell T. Bundy, who successfully established the brand in the manufacture of high-quality industrial bakeware for commercial kitchens.

Once in business, the Bundy family decided to expand their product range to home cooks. In 2009, USA Pan launched a fine line of cookware and bakeware with the same standards of quality, durability and functionality as its commercial range.

What We Like and Don't Like About the USA Pan 5-Ply Stainless Steel Pan

The biggest selling point of this 3-liter stockpot is its convenient steam lid design. Like the 360 Cookware, the lid seals heat and moisture inside the container for healthy, delicious, oil-free cooking. Oil field origin and production base

It all started when brothers Stephen and Chris Muscarella inherited vintage cast iron cookware from their grandmother. They are struck by the timeless quality of their kitchens over the years. But when the pair decided to buy some new iron castings, what they got was nothing like their heirlooms.

The Muscarella brothers then set out to find the secret that cast iron cookware was no longer made the way it used to be. Through extensive research and working with experts, the duo managed to find the correct technique for hand-casting vintage-style irons. And thus The Live Company was born.

What We Like and Don't Like About the Field Cast Iron Dutch Oven

This 4.5L Dutch Oven is probably the lightest, sleekest cast iron cookware I've ever seen. It's all thanks to the tireless efforts of the team at Field Company who tirelessly recreate vintage cast iron cookware. It weighs only 6.5 pounds, making it extremely portable even when fully loaded.

It's pre-seasoned with grapeseed oil to provide a natural nonstick coating like the other cast iron cookware in this guide. The large, easy-to-hold handle can be used to transport it from the stove to the table. Excellent heat retention and a tight-fitting self-radiating cast iron lid make it the ideal container for baking, roasting, braising and roasting.

Who we recommend:

As much as I'm obsessed with this Dutch oven, the brand's frying pans and frying pans are just as good. This is no ordinary cast iron cookware, this is something you'll be proud of. Of course, this first-class quality also includes the corresponding price, you get what you pay for. After all, this cookware is handcrafted using centuries-old techniques that are all but extinct in today's world.

Origin and production of Duparquet

Duparquet's founder and master craftsman Jim Hamann began his journey restoring antique bronzes, mostly from France, England or the United States. Harman was impressed by her solid build and charming personality -- a rarity in a market full of imported substitutes -- and decided to get in the game. The company is known today for its beautiful heirloom-quality copper pieces crafted with love and dedication in Rhode Island.

What We Like and Don't Like About the Duparquet Copper Cookware Wok Pan

Did you know that Duparquet (formerly Dupareust, Huot, & Moneuse, Co.) was once a well-known name in copper cookware, thriving from 1852 to 1936 before falling victim to the Great Depression? Kudos to Hamann for revitalizing the brand and delivering an impressive range of visually striking copperware.

To showcase the brand and its incredible quality and design, I chose a classic 11.25" skillet in ⅛" thick premium copper. Thanks to copper's excellent thermal conductivity, you'll cook your food evenly and efficiently every time without any hot spots.

The fused tin liner ensures food won't stick while cooking. However, if you want this pan to heat faster, more evenly, and have a higher non-stick quality, you can opt for the silver lining. The handle of this pan is made of cast iron, unlike copper, so it stays cooler for longer. It's also super comfortable to hold and features large copper rivets - so you never have to worry about the handle wobbling again!

Who we recommend:

Duparquet prides itself on handcrafting all copperware in the USA in the purest and centuries-old tradition. While you might have to pay a little more for one of these, you're paying for vintage quality, great looks, and impressive utility. With a capacity of up to 4.5 liters, this beautiful casserole is perfect for preparing large meals at home for family and friends.

Where Nest Homeware Originates and Manufactures

Nest Homeware may be one of the smaller brands in this guide, but they make top-notch products that last for generations. Headquartered in Providence, Rhode Island, Nest Homeware is home to a passionate, dedicated team of innovators. It was founded in 2013 by cast iron enthusiast Matt Cavallaro.

Cavallaro later joined Rue Sakayama, where she used her creative mind and vision to design and market her collections. Along with a love for cast iron items, the brand relies on American manufacturing and quality craftsmanship. All cookware is cast and machined in Pennsylvania, then hand seasoned in Providence.

What We Like and Don't Like About the Nest Homeware Cast Iron Casserole

Almost all cast iron you can buy these days is pre-fired, including this one. However, due to being double seasoned with pure linseed oil, it is more resistant to rust while providing a natural non-stick coating on the surface. The interior is CNC machined and smooth for even and efficient cooking.

All products of this brand score high marks in terms of appearance and function! A stunning brass knob on top of the self-filling lid enhances the aesthetics while increasing the functionality of this cooker. The handle has been carefully designed to resemble a cherry tree branch. These long handles not only look great, but also stay cool, ensuring the pot remains stable when lifting and carrying it.

Who we recommend:

Cast iron may heat up a little slower than other materials, but once heated, it stays that way for a long time. Using cast iron, this Dutch oven is perfect for searing, roasting, browning, roasting, or any other recipe that requires high heat retention. Plus, the dual seasoned cooking surfaces allow you to cook healthy, oil-free meals without compromising flavor.

Origin and production of Smithey

I mentioned how the Field Company revived the old method of making cast iron cookware. The next brand here shares the Field Company philosophy of recreating vintage quality that stands the test of time. Isaac Morton, the mastermind and brilliant mind behind Smithey Ironware, often came across 19th century iron pieces, which he restored in his woodshed and gifted to friends and family. It was Morton's dream to create cast iron cookware with a modern aesthetic, which was the origin of Smithey Ironware.

What We Like and Don't Like About the Smithey Carbon Steel Farmhouse Pan

This large skillet is reminiscent of traditional American blacksmith cookware, a staple in most American kitchens of the 18th and 19th centuries. This pan is the result of a collaboration between Smithey and renowned Charleston blacksmith Robert Thomas Iron Design.

Each piece is handcrafted by a team of talented artisans, giving it a unique personality. However, the basic design remains the same: 12-inch carbon steel that, while lighter, rivals cast iron in performance. The handle has a special shape inspired by antique style fire tools and a secondary handle with a hole for hanging from the frame.

Who we recommend:

If you love cast iron pans but want them to be a little lighter, here's your chance. This farmer's pan has a smooth surface, is large and roomy, and comes pre-seasoned with pure grapeseed oil. The Versatile Pan for Everyday Meals!

What to consider when choosing cookware

However, there are a few things to consider before choosing a cooker. the following:

maintain:

If you don't want to keep your cooker sparkling every night, you should consider maintenance to keep it looking its best. Stainless steel cookware is generally easier to maintain than copper or cast iron cookware. Copper and cast iron cookware often requires a lot of maintenance to keep it in pristine condition.

Robustness:

Certain types of cookware last longer and keep looking great. Stainless steel is considered one of the most durable types.

Reactivity:

Some metals react with certain foods. For example, tomatoes and other acidic foods tend to react with aluminum. This means your food can absorb some metals. Therefore, choose your cookware carefully and be aware of the reactivity of each product.

Thermal Conductivity:

Thermal conductivity varies from metal to metal. Copper is a particularly good conductor of heat compared to stainless steel. The better the cookware conducts heat, the better and more evenly your food cooks. So when you increase or decrease the heat, copper cookware responds to temperature changes much faster than stainless steel cookware.

cost:

Purchasing cookware will most likely depend on your budget. You should buy the best cookware you can afford.

Final thoughts:

This article will suffice. The most important thing when buying cookware is figuring out what size cookware you need. If you're not someone who cooks a lot, there's no point in buying a 16-piece set. Buying a cookware set is usually less expensive than buying each piece of cookware individually. But think carefully if you don't want to use all the parts.

We can't stress this enough: buy the best you can afford. Ultimately, your choice of stainless steel, cast iron, copper, or aluminum will depend on how often you cook, your culinary skills, and how much money you have.

When it comes to price, versatility, and ease of use, stainless steel cookware comes out on top. Considering the advantages, it is better than others. The downside of this material, however, is that it doesn't conduct heat well, which is important if even cooking is important to you.

We are constantly striving to improve our products. So if you know of any great American-made cookware sets that we've missed, let us know in the comments below.
