Air Fryer Conversion: How to Convert a Recipe for Your Air Fryer (1)

Air fryers are the new best friend, pretty much every household has one in their kitchen now, but they can be a little daunting for some when you don't have an exact recipe to follow and you can often get out of it. reason they tend to cook the same things over and over

Before we get into how to convert recipes for your air fryer, let's answer a lot of questions you might have about a deep fryer, especially if you haven't added one to your kitchen yet.

Choosing a deep fryer

There are so many options for different air fryers now compared to a few years ago that it can be hard to know which one is right for you.

If you're on a budget, there are some great options available to you. Look out for sales and special offers at places like Aldi, other supermarkets and Amazon, especially on big sales days like Boxing Day, Amazon Prime Day and Black Friday.

It's also worth checking out local Facebook sales groups or even thrift stores in your area, as occasionally you might get lucky and snag a really good bargain.

What size Airfryer do I need?

The most important thing you should pay attention to when buyingfryeris that you choose the right size, suitable for your family. A single person or a small family of two can get by with a small single basket fryer with a fairly small capacity, typically around 1-3 liters (which equals about 3 liters). However, I would say that a family of two should opt for the next size, which is 4-6 liters (up to 6 litres). If you have a large family, you may want to invest in the large capacity models or a 6- to 8-quart two-basket air fryer (up to 9 liters).

I always recommend choosing the largest size that you can afford within your budget and that will, of course, fit in your kitchen, as it will always come in handy to have extra capacity when you need it.

If you want one that can do a little more than the basics (for example, a double or multicooker fryer that also cooks fast and slow), there are options for that too (I'll cover these in more detail below).

there are those tooTefal ActiFry Genius XL 2 in 1 YV970840 hot air fryerThis is a different style of air fryer than you see today. These air fryers have a pan and paddle to rotate the food for you. They were very popular when they first came out many years ago, but now there are a wide variety of different types of fryers.

Two basket fryers

Two-basket fryers are the new generation of fryers and are gaining in popularity. Even for a small family, double baskets are a great option as they allow you to cook two different things at the same time.

Gone are the days when you might have to cook the protein side of things in the air fryer and then use the stove for the sides or add-ons because with a double air fryer you can whip up a complete meal for your whole family without having to have it. them to turn on an oven or stove.

Pressure cooker combined with airfryer

These are a fantastic option when counter space is at a premium. Pressure cooking has become as popular as air fryers in recent years, and the beauty of these types of stoves is that you can cook a lot of different things in one. Most all-in-one pressure cookers can sauté, pressure cook, slow cook and, if they have the air fryer lid, fry too.

If you like things like casseroles, stews, soups, pasta, etc., but you also want the added feature of being able to deep fry some things,Medium.comthen this is definitely the best option.

There are different models of pressure cookers with airfryer lids, but just like the airfryer, the two main models are the Instant Pot and the Ninja. The Instant Pot One is pretty big with the Airfryer lid. So if you have limited counter space, you might be better off opting for a Ninja model, which isn't quite as tall and also has multiple capacity options.

The good news is that just about anything you can cook in an ovenhttps://nancy4592.Wixsite.com/airfryer/Post/converting-oven-recipes-to-air-fryer-meals-a-guide-to-using-the-air-fryer-calculatorit can also be cooked in a deep fryer, just by making a few tweaks to a recipe, if not exactly specified for a deep fryer.

For cooking temperatures, you'll want to subtract about 25 Fahrenheit (see table below). Here's a handy little calculator to quickly convert oven temp/time to a deep fryer. Just select your oven temperature (make sure you select Fahrenheit or Celsius) and time and it will convert for you.

This calculator is intended only as a guide to help you convert recipes for your air fryer. Different brands of air fryers can vary in how they cook, so it is recommended that you check your food midway through cooking so you can adjust the temperature/time if necessary.

Converting a Fryer to an Air Fryer

For things that are normally fried, most of them can be made into a healthier version in a deep fryer. However, I recommend using some type of oil here.https://nancy4592.wixsite.com/airfryer/post/converting-oven-recipes-to-air-fryer-meals-a-Guide-to-using-the-air-fryer-calculatorcheck halfway through cooking and add a little more if needed.

You can oil the basket, brush it with a silicone brush or use an oil sprayer.

Usually 1 tablespoon of oil is enough for a recipe for 4 people, but more may be needed depending on the fried dish you want to cook in the deep fryer.

Tips for successful frying

There are several things to successfully cook in an air fryer.

Preheat the air fryer:It is recommended that you preheat your Airfryer for at least 3-5 minutes, 3 minutes for a smaller capacity and 5 minutes for a larger capacity, especially if you want a good sour crust for whatever you are cooking.

Do not overfill the basket:The first most important tip is not to overfill the Airfryer basket. If you fill it beyond its capacity, you won't get great results, the cooking will be uneven, things can end up undercooked and other parts overcooked, and you'll likely end up cooking your food and making a soggy mess. crispy exterior you're looking for.

Use some oil– Although it is possible to cook without oil, a little oil is enough for best results. 1 tablespoon of oil is enough for a recipe for 4 people and gives the best results. Be wary of certain spray oils, especially if they contain emulsifiers. Most of them are not recommended for air fryers as they react with the non-stick coating and leave a sticky residue. In fact, some fryer warranties are voided if you use a spray oil on them. If you decide to use them, always spray fryer food to keep it out of the elements. A better option is a silicone brush so you can easily brush your food with your preferred oil.

check the food– I always recommend checking the food halfway through the cooking time. This allows you to make some adjustments if necessary, especially if you are preparing a certain dish for the first time. If you find it cooking too high or too low, you can adjust the temperature. It's also a great time to turn things around if needed.

Hot air fryer accessories

There are many air fryer accessories out there if you want to use them. Pretty much any dish that's suitable for an oven, as long as it fits in your air fryer, is fine. Just make sure you don't touch any of the elements or block the flow.

You can find different types of accessories online, such as aluminum foil, parchment, silicone inserts and additional racks. But unless they are recommended by the brand of your fryer, you should always be careful when purchasing these items from a third party.
