With that in mind, we reached out to some of our favorite designers and interior design experts to share their predictions for bedroom design trends for the coming year.
2023 Design Trends We're Already Watching
Warm, earthy tones and colors
becky smith, color consultantGraphene Stan, saying bedrooms will be warmer in 2023. "We're going to see a lot of earthy tones that have a warm, soothing quality, like warm tones and corals, but also layers of deep amber and fuchsia," reveals Smith. "It imparts depth, and the touch of coral adds modernity."

Focus on lighting design
In 2023, lighting will be used to emphasize warmth in addition to the color on the walls, Smith said. "Always consider lighting because it's very important in the bedroom," says Smith. "Warm incandescent bulbs glow with red undertones after dark, bathing the bedroom in a warm glow."
Gena Kirk, Vice President of Corporate DesignKnowledge Base Home,agree. "By adding a variety of lighting fixtures, from ceiling lights to pendant lights above nightstands, you can easily adapt your use of the space," she says.

Playful Lampshades and Shades
Charlie Dumais, Ceramicist at Design StudioMade in Dumas, and speaking of 2023, the smaller decorative items in our bedrooms, such as lampshades, will take on more expression. "We'd like to see more saturated colors in our bedroom lamps, more glossy than matte finishes, and more refined shades," Dumas tells us.

Kirk also predicts that in the year ahead, people will upgrade small details in their bedrooms to create more luxurious spaces.
"It's more important now than ever that we have rest spaces, like our bedrooms, that cater to our individual needs to relax and rest," Kirk said. "It means something different for everyone. —whether it is an investment or notmore storage spaceor organizations, luxuries such asnew bedding, or add smart technology to make life easier, such as automatic blinds or remote-controlled lights. Smith tells us that by 2023, we'll see decorators using color in interesting ways to define areas, such as using color as a headboard that can change with the seasons. "People seek innate peace and tranquility, especially in the bedroom," she says. "Color does that naturally."

“In recent years, people have cared so much about making their bedrooms more comfortable that a lot of what is being bought is spontaneous and not necessarily high quality,” says Kristina Phillips.Christina Phillips Interior Designtell us. "I believe 2023 will be an opportunity to take a more personal and curated approach to the overall look and feel of the bedroom."
When it comes to quality over quantity, designers always opt for high-quality, thoughtful finishes. When it comes to how people do it, it's all about finding inspiration, Phillips said.

Casey agreed. "I think we're going to see more patterns in bedrooms," she says. "I think linen will still rule the world, but I'm excited to see brands launching more checks, stripes and florals on their linen products."

Wavy and curved edges
althoughCurves and Wavy EdgesCasey thinks we'll see more of this in the coming year -- albeit with a difference.
"Furniture will continue to focus on curves and wavy details, but on a larger scale than we saw in 2022," Casey said. "I think we're going to see a lot more of that in the future."

Some designers say that it will be the same in 2023Attach more wallpapers, but possibly in smaller doses or in interesting ways.
"Next year's theme is wallpaper," Phillips said. "Create a visually interesting space with beautiful murals and interesting patterns."
"Also, wallpaper patterns and prints are becoming more popular," says Kirk. "Consider adding an accent wall with a bold pattern in a neutral color to create whimsy and personality without taking up the space."
